Sunday morning James and I were dropped off at A.P. Camphor United Methodist Church in Clara Town on Bushrod Island, Monrovia. After being greeted by the pastor, Rev James Boye-Caulker, we made ourselves at home in the sanctuary. Pastor James was still getting ready as we were very early. Looking around I noticed a stack of hymnals on the choir pews. Picking up one I was surprised to see the name, “Pomona Methodist Church” embossed on the front cover.
The hymnals are well worn as you can see from the photo and are the ones most churches threw out or gave away in 1984 when the new hymnal was published.
I wonder if Pomona United Methodist Church would consider giving 150 new hymnals to one of their sister churches?
Note: we also saw hymnals from Wesley, Pilgrim, John Wesley, Laurelwood, and Cherokee Place Methodist Churches.
